Just begining
#1
The other day I bought my self a cheap combo fly rod and reel and couldn't be happier I did! Today I went fishing at the local trout pond, tied on a random fly and started to cast. Within minutes I had my first brook trout rise to take my fly. It was so exciting! This happened many more times within the hour I was there. I was unable to hook any trout but can't wait to go again! I wish I tried this years earlier!

congrats on your first outing.. but just a friendly word of warning.. now that you have felt the thrill of catching a fish on the fly you are hooked.. which means more flys.. more rods and reels.. tying your own flies.. LOL..

welcome to the club... [Smile]

Good to hear you had a good first outing with your new gear. How are you trying to set the hook when the fish roll on your fly? Try just lifting the rod while holding your line. Setting the hook with the fly rod is a little more subtle than spinning gear.
