Anyone fish Castaic?

My wife just bought me my first float tube for my birthday. I can wait to get out on the water and use it. I know I need waders, fins and a life vest any suggestions on any of these?
I normally fish Castaic lake so hopefully I will see some of you out there. If I look like I'm struggling ( which I'm sure i will be)please feel free to offer some pointers.
Also would live to hear about some great spots to fish if you wouldn't mind sharing.

There are always some guys there in float tubes in
evening hours.
Just make sure that you don't go there thursday to sunday
because thats when the swimming beaches are open and what I understand its a zoo.
Paddingstone Reservoir can be good as well this time a year.
