Colorados Barr Lake State Park Closes Boat Ramp Temporarily

BRIGHTON, Colo. - Barr Lake State Park has closed the boat ramp due to a sinkhole on the bridge leading to the boat ramp. Visitors can still access the boat ramp area for fishing by parking at the Nature Center and walking to the boat ramp area. The Eagle Express shuttle will be available on a limited basis to provide transportation to and from the Nature Center and the boat ramp. No boats can be launched until the repairs to the bridge are completed. Repair to the bridge has begun.

Barr Lake is still open for all other activities. Some upcoming events are:

<li>Guided bird walk on Aug. 14 and Aug. 28 at 9 a.m.</li>
<li>Bob Ross oil painting class on Aug. 21 at 9 a.m.</li>
<li>Full moon hike on Aug. 24 at 7:30 p.m.</li>
<li>Eagle Express rides to the eagles nest area will run every Saturday at 10 a.m. and on Sunday at 11 a.m. through Labor Day</li>
</ul>
All programs will start at the Nature Center, where you can enjoy a glass of lemonade, observe birds at the bird feeding area or buy a t-shirt or new book from our educational park store.
