FRANKFORT, Ky. - We welcome the American Casting Championships to Kentucky and we welcome back host Tim Farmer's daughters to "Kentucky Afield" television this weekend, Aug. 21 and 22.
As kids, part of the fun of fishing was trying to out-cast your buddy. Today, that competitive spirit is still alive with the American Casting Association. This summer, the national championships for distance and accuracy are held in Lexington at Masterson Station Park and on dry land. Join Farmer as he follows the action in the distance event.
Also on the show, Rebekah and Elizabeth Farmer were regulars on "Kentucky Afield" when their daddy first joined the show in 1995. Now, these precocious little girls are two lovely ladies who never lost their love of nature. Dad and daughters travel to Lake Cumberland to fish for striped bass, catching their limit and a boatload of memories along the way.
Lastly, we travel to Shaker Village with avian biologist Kate Heyden to net birds. This is one way science tracks the state's population and diversity of songbirds.
