33 hole sunday mid day report
#1
[size 2]Fished the 33 hole rocky turnoff again with a buddy. Fished from 12-3pm and hiked down to our spot we call "kats cove" basically that nice big cove closest to the rocky point parking lot not to far off the trail. We wanted to make it a quick trip only 1 bag of chovies so we were just fishin 1 rod chovies on the bottom. Wind was kinda blowing not to bad first 15 mins I was hooked up on a average cat landed him quick and released him. We ended up doing pretty well every 20 mins we were hooked up. Also caught a cat with some kinda wound on his head see pic. Ended up keeping one to go with our dinner overall nice day at the lake sun was burning lots of pwc and boat traffic but had fun surprised we did well catching 3-4 each thanks for looking.

*the blue chair in the pic is some trash someone left behind jeez

While the extent of trash at the lake is Saddening, i always think its kind of cool to find those really old pop tops, or old school bottles buried in the mud.

Anyone seen the rusted out boat engine, hull and tools out at 33?

I wonder what else will re-emerge as the lake continues to recede.

Thanks guys for lookin guys [Wink] Glad to hear you made it out to that spot aiden I always do well on that one specific point where the chair was layin. Where did you see this heap of trash? I have seen a sm outboard but could be different than the one you mentioned.

There have been stories about when the lake first started to drop they were finding bones in bags and firearms linked to the mob days of vegas. It truly is Sad how much crap is down there but it is a long hike up and could see why people leave trash behind. The park service should put some 50 gal trash drums down there and empty them every week would help alot, heck even add a fish cleaning station. Ive seen where people will bag everything up and just leave the big ol bag of trash just sittin there mmmm kinda pointless. Anyways untill then[fishin]

Hmmm...

As for the cat with the wound on his head - maybe chupacabras can swim now!

Thanks for the report. I'll get my butt down to fish Mead soon for the first time since moving here in March.

yup we seen it the last time we were down there it was good structure for bass. i seen a few plucked from the wreck when it WAS under water. but i am wondering if they got to shore ok, cause if u think about it that was probly a good 1/4 mile from shore when it sunk and in about 200+ feet of water. kinda scary

[cool]I always seem to find lures when ever I go fishing. Even found a pair of Maui Jim titanium sunglasses. But the most mysterious thing I have found is 175 $1 tokens from the Eldorado Club casino. I was taking a break from tubing and saw first one then three then five coins on the shore. After more looking I ended up with 133. Went back a couple days later with the wife and found 42 more. Who would take tokens to the lake, then dump them in the water? Pic is of the first 133. They all cleaned up nice. Stll waiting to find a suitcase full of cash.

I always just take the lead off the shoreline and reuse. Just got some "do it molds" and love em. But nothing as great as old casino coins great addition to the coin collection Big E[cool] considering they imploded that baby years ago. But gets me why someone would dump em in mead my guess would be they didn't want to be linked to the coins for whatever reason nice find until then[fishin]
