Rockport 10/2-3
#1
We decided to hit Rockport this weekend for a little camping and fishing on what appears to be the last taste of summer here. We pretty much slayed the rainbows trolling small spoons, (Triple Teasers, Needlefish) and plugs (Rapala Taildancers). Hot colors were pink and gold or green and gold for the TTs and firetiger/pearl back for the NF. Taildancer colors were rainbow trout and perch. Other small spoons and plugs produced as well. Saturday we caught most fish in about 30-40 ft of water from the surface to 20 feet down. Sunday the fish seemed to move over much deeper water with most success near the surface over 50-100+ feet of water. Most effective speed seemed to be about 1.7-1.9 mph per GPS. Fish were mostly recent plants from 7 inches on up to about a pound and a half. Only caught one small brown around 13-14 inches. Weather was gorgeous, warm, and calm. Heavy algae bloom here btw. My friend's 8 year old little girl got to reel in 15-20 trout this weekend... she's hooked!

Side note: We saw nor heard of no perch being caught. However we did see some gangs of packed fish near the bottom in depths from 30-70 feet. You decide what they were.

Nice detailed post and one of the few we hard read from Rockport, thanks for posting it. Did the bows have any of the anchor worm sores like the East canyon bows do?

The bows were all pretty clean here.

Also, we tried for a bit on smallies and had no bites. I think they have moved deep for the year.
