Wanted Dead: Feral Swine - Shoot to kill wild hogs!
While you're in the woods, remember to keep an eye out for feral swine/wild boar. Wild boar can be thought of as Asian carp on four legs in Michigan - we don't want them for many reasons: disease threats to Michigan's domestic pork industry, human health threats, wildlife predation, and habitat destruction. Michigan currently has about 3,000-5,000 of these invasive nomadic rototillers and the state needs YOUR help to eliminate them. This year MUCC helped pass legislation making it legal for any licensed hunter to kill feral swine.
If you do encounter a wild boar while hunting, there is a correct/safe way to kill them. For that reason we've re-posted a previous Insider article that goes into detail. Check it out below. Also, if you do kill a wild boar, be sure to report it to the DNRE
