Port of San Diegos 32nd Day at the Docks® announces Master of Ceremonies
#1
Event Director Catherine Miller announced that radio personality and lure manufacturer John "Hopalong" Cassidy will again be master of ceremonies for the Port of San Diego's 32nd Day at the Docks®. Hopalong will be keeping visitors updated on seminars, demonstrations, contests, entertainment, exhibitors and all they need to know throughout the day. He will appear, along with many other scheduled activities, on the WEST MARINE main stage located at the south end of the event area beginning at 9 a.m.

Hopalong's dad, Jack, introduced him to the San Diego saltwater fishing scene in the mid-fifties. Later he crewed on several well-known San Diego based vessels including the Del Mar, Kingfisher and Paularto ll.

Hopalong is a graduate of San Diego State University. In1979 The San Diego Fishermen Magazine hired him as a feature writer where he developed the publication's popular seafood-related cooking column," Hopalong John's Galley". While attending the very first Day at the Docks® as a member of the magazine's staff, Hopalong served over 1,100 samples of cerviche inspired by Mama Gio's own original recipe.

Hopalong and his wife Vicki founded Angler's Arsenal in 1983 and in1993 purchased Western Plastics which soon expanded into the La Mesa based innovative lure and fishing products manufacturer and distributor it is today.

Hopalong can be found almost daily in his La Mesa facility and is heard live on Friday and Sunday evenings co-hosting the Rod & Reel Radio Show on KCAA 1050 in the Inland Empire or on 540AM throughout the San Diego, Orange County and Los Angeles areas. www.rodandreelradio.com.
