J-Grip is a rubber gripping device for a multi section fishing rod.
A convenient alternative for many anglers is to use a two (or more) section fishing rod. The rod is divided into sections primarily for transportation and storage purposes. The sections are joined by inserting a solid cylindrical end of one piece into a hollow end of the other piece which has a slightly larger diameter than the cylinder. The sections are aligned so that the line guides of each section form a straight line.
While such a multi section rod solves many problems, it also creates new ones of its own. The rod is still a sensitive and somewhat fragile piece of equipment. Misuse during assembly or disassembly can cause damage to the rod. The assembly and disassembly require some force because of the tightness of the connection. The solid connection is necessary to prevent the rod from coming apart at an inopportune time as well as to provide the same level of sensitivity as a one piece rod. During the process of assembly and disassembly, many people take the sections and rotate them back and forth until they are tight. The problem is that they often do so by grabbing the line guides of the rod for leverage. Over time, this weakens the line guides and will eventually lead to breakage. Of course, too much force, as is the case of a very tight rod connection, can cause the line guide to immediately break.
Another problem is that the line guides of the fishing rod are often misaligned during assembly. Rather than separating the two sections of the rod and properly reassembling them, many people will simply grab the rod (line guide) and twist; again causing damage.
This product is a one piece rubber gripping device that comes in different sizes to accommodate different size rods. The J-Grip is lightweight, between 2 and 4 grams depending on the size of your fishing rod and it is designed to fit tightly over the ferrule of the upper section of the fishing rod. The J-Grip is intended for the use of joining and separating, the sections of a fishing rod safely. The gripping devise also makes aligning the line guides of the upper section of the fishing rod with the line guides of the lower section of the fishing rod much easier and safer.
The gripping devise strengthens the connection of the fishing rod, while preventing damage and or brakeage of the line guides or fishing rod from assembling and disassembling of the rod, thus creating a longer life span of your fishing rod.
To apply the grip, separate the sections of fishing rod then take the upper
section of the fishing rod, apply a soapy water solution to the inside of the J-Grip and then slide it over the ferrule part of the fishing rod, then let dry for a few hours.
Using the J-Grip to assemble your rod: While holding the upper section of fishing rod by the gripping device firmly between the thumb and index finger of one hand, grab the handle (reel seat) at the bottom of the lower section of the fishing rod with the other hand, then insert the top of the lower section of the fishing rod into the bottom of the upper section of the fishing rod. While pushing the two fishing rod sections together, give a few twists to align the line guides and to make a secure connection. To disassemble, use the same method as above except, push them apart instead of pushing them together. This product is patent pending and thanks for reading.
