We went, we fished, we caught NOTHING. Actually, we did catch a huge turtle.
We put in at the Bluff landing on the Big Pee Dee river around 9 am. We were using Live and cut bream, Live and cut eel, and cut shiners. The first couple of potential bites were more like gar nibbles than a catfish. The only good bite we got was on a live bream, and just as it started that get it good, he let go. That was a catfish bite. He never came back.
We were primarily hiting the creekmouths and submerged structure in the bends. The fish should be close to spawning right now. The good bite was in 11' of water. Nothing in the deeper holes. The water was up a little bit. Hopefully it will start falling soon and it will be right for the tournament Saturday.
