FREE YOUTH FISHING EVENT

Lincoln Park in East Los Angeles, will host a<br />
free fishing derby for kids on June 11, 2011<br />
LOS ANGELES - Children ages 5-15 are invited to participate in a free youth fishing event hosted by the City of Los Angeles Department of Parks &amp; Recreation. The fishing event will be at Lincoln Park located at 3501 Valley Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90031 on Saturday, June 11, 2011.<br />
This activity is designed to give boys and girls who live in urban areas an opportunity to enjoy a fishing experience in or close to their own neighborhood, with rod &amp; reels, tackle, bait, and assistance provided. Event day onsite registration will begin at 8:00 a.m.; the fishing session will go from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 PM, followed by a congratulatory ceremony and drawing. There will be lots of free prizes for the kids and plenty of fish to catch too.<br />
Anglers age 16 or older can fish at the end of the event, but they must have a California State Fishing License. The Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation is co-sponsoring the derby with the Daniel Hernandez Youth Foundation www.danskids.org, with the Los Angeles City Police Department, the Los Angeles City Fire Department, and other partners expected to participate.<br />
