Miami/Haulover Fishing Report - Hot Dolphin Action
#1
Today we fished aboard my customer's boat. We left his dock at a leisurely 9:00 AM, ran to Government Cut, caught herring, and started fishing off Bear Cut. We worked the water between 120 - 400 feet while moving north toward Haulover Inlet. In the first hour we caught 2 dolphin (282') and had one bait chopped up without hooking up. The next several hours were uneventful except for another bait chopped off behind the gills. I decided that a drastic change was needed, so we ran out to 700'. While putting out the second bait, it got hit and we caught two dolphin of 10 & 12 pounds. There was scattered grass in the area, and up ahead of us a frigate bird and numerous terns were in a frenzy. A quick move and instead of a single or double, we were in a summer time like school of dolphin. We caught enough for several meals and released a half dozen. With the sun getting low on the horizon, we headed home with thoughts of fresh dolphin fillets on our mind.

Captain Dave Kostyo
Knot Nancy Fishing Charters
www.rnfl.com/knotnancy
nkostyo@bellsouth.net
