After two days of awesome trout fishing the third day was spent out the Ponce Inlet looking for tarpon a few hundred yards off the beach. It was a fine morning, overcast and the ocean was smooth. We arrived in an area where birds were diving into a large school of poagies so we rigged up our croakers with 6/0 circle hooks and cast into the school. I didn't think about what I was doing at the time but I tied the 6/0 circle hook on my medium/heavy spinning rod I had been using to catch trout and redfish. After making the cast and watching the school of bait the rod felt like it had been slapped with a sledge hammer and the line was peeling off like I was tied to a train. <br />
