I'd like to do some Pier or Surf fishing in S Cal, does anyone have a link to the rules or know what license I would need? Thanks

Thanks Bryan. I was hoping the saltwater fishing would be free but I guess not. Is there a fee on the East coast?

LOL, NOPE. The saltwater license is like 10 bucks, and so is the freshwater; for residents. Non resident licenses are pretty cheap, like five bucks for a week or something. It changed not long ago, but use to be, if you were fishing saltwater from a dock or from the bank/surf, you didn't need a license. My understanding is that now, that is no longer the case. But, I don't mind paying for the license as long as DNR is using the money appropriately. That's the real question, where does the money go? My expectation is that it is used to aid in the conservation of our states natural resources. I suspect it's not quite going down like that. [frown]
