TOLEDO, OH - Investigators with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), Division of Watercraft and the U.S. Coast Guard are seeking additional witnesses to Sunday's boating-related accident on the Maumee River near Cullen Park that claimed the life of 49-year-old Ricky Lopez of Toledo.
The accident happened approximately 8:15 p.m. Sunday when Lopez reportedly fell from a powerboat and was presumed to have drowned. Shortly after noon on Tuesday, the Toledo Fire and Rescue Department recovered the body of a man from the Maumee River near Cullen Park in the area where Lopez was said to have fallen from the boat.
The man's identity was confirmed Wednesday afternoon as that of Ricky Lopez, according to the Division of Watercraft, following an autopsy by the office of the Lucas County Coroner.
