His round of 63 which included nine birdies and set a tournament target of 13 under par which the chasing pack couldn’t match proved he must be a hot TaylorMade Burner SuperFast Lady Driver prospect for the cut and thrust of Hoylake this week.
Even though the lush and exclusive Scottish course hardly compares with the fast-running links on The Wirral with its baked TaylorMade Burner SuperFast Rescue fairways, firm greens and deep pot bunkers, it identifies the players on form and those on the verge of something special.
