The stocking program is only a few years old, but I've heard that some bigger fish are being caught. If your fishing one of those lakes, and it looks that way, just keep at it. We all get alot of small fish before we get that big one. Makes it worth while.

Stocking program? Really? Don't you guys have native blue and flathead catfish? Those should be in abundance if you have a large lake or river system. Around here, they are in all the bodies of river or stream, and all the larger lakes like Santee and Wateree.

I wish we had a stocking program. The local panfish anglers are not very fond of catfish, as they contest they eat all their prized redbreast. I think the gar and mudfish do more damage myself. But, hey, who really knows..

That's actually pretty cool they do that. Channel cats are actually pretty harmless to an eco system though, compared to thier big brothers. I would love to have a small, deep pond in my back yard stocked with channel cats. I'd keep them fed so they'll get in the 10-20 pound range, and my buddies could bring thier kids over and have a blast on light tackle. that honestly would be really cool. [cool]
