Tribune has posted a report of a would be state record tiger caught at Scofield in a DWR gillnet.

Look at that bucket o' chubs in the background.
Makes me wonder; what if a couple boats ran some big nets, effectively pushing a large area into a tighter circle, picking out the gamefish with hand nets and releasing them on the other side or the big net. This would remove a couple tons of chub biomass, while releasing the gamefish immediately; then we wouldn't lose the investment of trout already in the res.
I wonder how feasible / realistic / effective an idea like this is....

That would be so cool to catch some tigers that big.

Getting one of those big tigers to bite is going to be near impossible. There are baby chub minnows everywhere in that lake. I am sure there are tons of big trout in that lake now but they are quite content eating all those baby chubs. When we fished it this fall we had tons of follows by trout but they just weren't aggressive. Why would they be when there is a buffet swimming in front of their faces all day?

Thanks for posting the link. Those fish are awesome!

That 8lb male would look perfect above my fireplace! Sadly they had to kill those chub eating beasts. Jacksonman is right with a buffet swimming buy they will be difficult to catch. Hopefully they don't have to poison the lake to get the trash fish in check.
