Matching Funds Boost Montana Fisheries Project
#1
HELENA, MT—The Montana Fish, Wildlife and Park Commission (FWPC) approved more than $316,000 in funding earlier this month for 16 fisheries improvement projects. The funding will be matched by more than $400,000 from outside sources.

The improvements will help westslope cutthroat, bull, brown, and rainbow trout, as well as Arctic grayling habitat. Work will include riparian fencing and channel re-vegetation; livestock water development; stream channel and spawning habitat improvements; stream bank stabilization; fish passage improvements; and fish screens on irrigation diversions.

Funding applications are due December 31. Application forms are available from all FWPC regional offices or via the FWPC's webpage: www.fwp.state.mt.us.
