Lake Mead Sunday III
#1
Another morning spent at Lake Mead, here's how it went:

Hit the water early (5:00 am) and motored over to Gypsum Wash to toss a few nets in the dark. Ended up with the live bait well loaded with shad. At dawn we motored out into the channel where the fleet was fishing. Before we put a line in the water we decided to head for less crowded spaces. We soon found ourselves in a small cove between Black Island and Swallow Cove. This cove was loaded with birds, shad, small stripers, and no boats. We drifted the points catching fish off the surface with soft 4" shad imitators. Our total was 23 stripers all between 1-2 pounds. We were back at the dock at 10:30. We did'nt use the shad that we netted! I guess we just can't stop tossing lures. The shad are bagged and frozen for later use. Soon we will try our luck at night fishing with live shad.
