I caught a small fish it was my first of the season. I always get excited in spring. I got worried when my best spot didnt produce a fish today. Then I moved and threw it into the middle, the BAM. Fish on. it was small 1.6lbs but it fought HARD.

Yea 5lb 1oz is my best in about 6 years. And I catch alot of Largemouth bass. You might read some fishing sites forums and guys bragging about 10lb or 8lb alot but it's B.S.

You already know my largest is around 11lb, and I caught a good 9lb one about 7 years ago but since those two I have caught one over 5lb. AND IF YOU LOOK AT THE BFT CONTEST THREAD you see I catch A LOT of bass.

Catching a largemouth over 5lb is a good catch anywhere. Unless you are in California or Florida with those hybrid bass.

I was and still am excited with this catch today. Any bass over 5lb is a good catch.

you can see what I caught him on and the other bass I've caught over 14" this year at this thread:

A lot of times I don't even take the time to get a pic of many I catch 14" to 16". Or I would have about 20 more pics there. LOL.

A lot of the ones I catch at the Church pond aren't as healthy as the ones at Valentines. I can get a 18" at church that will only 2.5lb the same length at valentines would be 4lb or more. Just two very different ponds. You can even see it in the images how different the bass are in those two ponds. I fish them the most around here.

BTW, I live in North East Arkansas almost in Missouri. I can drive three hours south ( a different zone) and catch some larger bass but I prefer my local ponds.

Hey,
Sounds like your very serious about fishing, right? Well I need advice on what to purchase for the upcoming summer. I think there may be a 10 pounder in a little cove in this pond but I don't know. If you could give me some good lunker baits/lures that would be great! I can't wait to fish at the ponds again.
