Mackerel thick off Long Island

[indent]The first spring mackerel run in years has been occuring off the Long Island South Shore, though no Jersey party boats have been joining in. Jesse York also reported to his Atlantic Beach Rod & Gun Club members that bluefin tuna have been spotted among the mackerel schools.
Capt. Howard Bogan Jr. expected better striper jigging during his second day of that sport with his Jamaica from Brielle since a northwest wind is usually favorable for jigging along the Shore. However, once again, the stripers were picky. A total of 15 keepers up to an 18-pounder for Jorge
