MANCOS, Colo. - Mancos State Park has opened Jackson Gulch Reservoir for boating. Mancos State Park is a great park to visit in the southwest corner of Colorado. In addition to boating, Mancos offers 32 campsites, two yurts, hiking trails, beautiful mountain views and great fishing.
The entrance station opens for the summer season on May 19. Prior to May 19 the park is on a self-serve basis for entry and camping fees.<br />
The warm spring weather has people coming to visit the park for fishing, camping and boating. Campsite reservations are filling up quickly for the Memorial Day Weekend. If you are planning on camping at Mancos State Park this summer you can make a reservation by calling 1 (800) 678-2267 or going online to: www.parks.state.co.us. During the summer we also rent pedal boats, canoes, and kayaks. So, come on out and enjoy Mancos State Park!<br />
If you want to enjoy fishing on Jackson Gulch Reservoir be sure you have your fishing license for the new season. You can purchase your fishing license at Mancos starting May 19. Before that time please visit another license agent, listed on the website at: www.wildlife.state.co.us.<br />
If you are coming to Mancos to go boating, please check that your vessel has all of the required safety items onboard.<br />
To prevent the spread of aquatic nuisance species (ANS), including zebra and quagga mussels, all trailered vessels must be inspected prior to launch. The inspection station at the boat ramp will begin regular summer inspection hours on Saturday May 19. Hours will be 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days per week.<br />
Prior to May 19, a pre-launch inspection is required. You have two options for a pre-launch inspection:<br />
"¢ Schedule an inspection with the Mancos Volunteer Camphost by calling (970) 903-7286 or schedule an inspection with the Colorado Parks & Wildlife office in Dolores by calling (970) 882-2213 or schedule an inspection with a certified inspector in the Colorado Parks & Wildlife Durango office by calling (970) 247-0855.<br />
"¢ Obtain a pre-inspection seal and receipt from a certified inspection location in Colorado at one of the following locations:<br />

 There are inspection stations at the Colorado Parks & Wildlife Northeast Region office at 6060 Broadway in Denver.<br />
 At the Northwest Region Office at 711 Independent in Grand Junction.<br />
 And, at the Hot Sulphur Springs Area Office at 346 Grand County Road 362.<br />
Vessels planning to launch outside of posted inspection times will require a pre-inspection seal attached prior to launch. Pre-inspection seals are to be removed by boaters upon launching. The seal along with the corresponding seal receipt should then be placed in the pre-inspection drop box, located at the boat ramp. Boaters should also fill out the pre-inspection log sheet on the top of the drop box.<br />
Remember to always clean, drain, and dry your vessel to help prevent the spread of ANS. Thank you for helping to keep Colorado waters ANS free.<br />
