Carters Lkae Report
#1
************************* Carters Lake Report **********************
1/27/02

The lake is 3ft. over full pool and rising. water temp is 47 degrees.
all the recent rains have the water heavily stained in the coosawatee river and most of the creeks on the northern end are stained as well.

STRIPERS: the bait fish are begining move out of the creeks and scatter.some fish can stiill be found in the creeks and up the river from half way up out to the mouth's.
with the cold water temps the top water bite is not happening much. most of the fish are being caught on downlines 20 to 35 ft. deep using shinners, shad, and trout. the fish are cold and sluggish and not making those hard strikes like they are known for. some of the bites will be very subtle and hard to detect at first.

SPOTTED BASS: The bite has slowed for the spot's some fish can still be caught on deep rock ledges and blowdowns 20 to 35 ft. deep, on the texas riged finesse worms in green pumpkin and watermelon seed or the jig and pig.
the best bet is to stay in clear water in and around the mouth's of the tributaries, and and with the cold water you can't fish too SLOW.
If the warm weather holds and we get 50 degree water temps, look for the fish to start staging up on the long clay and sandy points in the next 2 weeks.

for more info or to book a trip
contact us at 770-735-2625
email: jeff.guide@tds.net
or visit us on the web at
http://www.carterslakefishing.com
