Hit Painted Rocks this a.m. for a couple of hours -- lookin' for pike. Purrrty down there. Fished the willows across from the island until I got tired of snags. Had a couple of semi-serious bumps but no hookups Moved over to the other side and caught my first fish right below the petroglyphs.... maybe 25 inches. Caught another closer to the island. Used a big silver spoon and a perch-type lure. The second fish was smaller. Had a few bumps but had to leave before I could really get after 'em. Only two other boats.
.
Lots of geese nesting in the Painted Rocks cliff and on the island and they do not like fishermen. They were screaming obscenities at me all morning. They would fly higher up on the cliffs and stare down at me or fly out in the channel. They would stay cool until a crow would fly by and then they ignored me and went after the crows. Fun to watch
.
Good luck to you guys going down Fri. and weekend.

Great sounding trip. I need to get down there one of these days. Sounds like you found some crabby geese[bobhappy]
