Goodbye Utah BFT
#1
Well, we've been reassigned down to Arizona and will be leaving Utah in August for the desert and lots of desert bass lakes. I bid you Utah BFT'ers a farewell and will miss the BFT community here. Y'all have a wonderful wilderness resource so please don't take the Utah outdoors for granted! I've traveled extensively throughout the US and the world and have found few places with the beauty and phenomenal fishing of the high Uintas, so enjoy it for me! I'll miss badly chucking flies at native cutts and tiger trout.

On a side note, anyone have some suggestions on how to jump start the AZ boards?

Also, y'all should feel very fortunate about the Utah fishing fees. I'm not looking forward to AZ's license fee + trout stamp fee + Reservation access fees.

[cool][#0000ff]Good luck with the move. Where will you be plunking down. I lived in both Tucson and the Phoenix area for a total of almost 20 years. I would be happy to help point you in some good directions once you are settled in.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]No answer for the Arizona board. I started it about 10 years ago and never could get it humming. There are a couple of local bass chaser boards down there but even they are quiet. Seems like there are just not the numbers of computer savvy anglers in Arizona who like to participate on forums.[/#0000ff]

Looks like we're going to be getting a house in Goodyear. I grew up in the Peoria area so I'm quite familiar with the lakes down south and up north on the Rim. I will miss all the trees up here! I do know that I'm probably going to have to get a boat now, shore fishing at some of the the lakes (Pleasant, Saguaro, Bartlett) will be quite the pain if I want to target some nice bass.

Bummer AFF! You shall be missed. Good luck and please put up a few AZ reports here and there for us.

If memory serves me right Causey will miss you.

[cool][#0000ff]Arizona is one of the hottest and driest states in the country. But it has the highest ratio of boat owners to population of any state. And some of them are even fishermen...or think they are.[/#0000ff]

Thanks for the well wishes. And wouldn't you know once I get the evil mistress of Causey dialed in, we are out of here.

Something about that boat ownership:population comment on AZ that just didn't seem right to me. So I did some checking. There are many websites that claim exactly what you said, but numbers don't lie. These are from the US Coast Guard who keeps track of those stats better than most DMV's or other methods of registrations. These numbers are old (2004) but there is no way AZ could move up the list to #1. The following numbers were obtained from the U.S. Coast Guard. As far as I can determine, these are the only official statistics maintained on boat ownership in the U.S.
