They jump all the time. If you quiet and your sitting on the water they will jump right around you. Joe had a couple close calls with this one. Ron

I know that they also jump when not hooked. Does anyone happen to know why they jump? Oxygen? Breaking eggs loose? Dating? Teenage exuberance?

Never saw a rainbow jump like this. Sturgeon will often flip their tail and shake their head (similar to a marlin) while they are jumping.
