Perchin at Starvy
#1
[#502800]I Went to Rabbit Gulch on Starvy and tried perchin for a couple of days.[/#502800]
[#502800]There were plenty of perch to be had, but lots of bitty ones. About a ten to one ratio.[/#502800]
[#502800]I Caught one nice trout and zero on the wallys. I talked to some folks who had caught some wallys, but they were all on the smallish size.[/#502800]

[cool][#0000ff]Glad you got to get over there. Sorry the fish weren't more cooperative. You needed a better guide.[/#0000ff]

[#502800]My fuel pump went out coming down the canyon from Strawberry, so I'm out of commission until I get it fixed,[/#502800]
[#502800]I seem to have bad luck going to Starvation for some reason or other, or maybe my run of bad luck is over now. If I am up and running, I will send you a PM. [/#502800]

[#502800]My home-made lures worked excellent for the perch. Many thanks to your wire twisting lessons,[/#502800]
[#502800][/#502800]
[#502800]I did get a glimpse of one of the prettiest sunsets I have ever seen. I went to get my camera and my batteries were dead from being out in the sun.[/#502800]
[#502800][/#502800]
[#502800]All-in-all it was a good trip and I learned some things. That's what fishing is all about.[/#502800]

[#502800]Its time to get out the panko and have perch and chips.[/#502800]

Good to hear you caught some fish, even if no eyes were caught. We missed you at the DAV event.

I saw the same sunset, and you're right. It was one to remember. Hope you can hook up some walleye next time you make it out.[fishin]

Not really. I stay away from the summer crowds out there now. I did have a couple good days there this year though. I always want to be there. Sometimes work gets in the way.[Wink]

[cool][#0000ff]Glad the fish voted for your new trinkets. I have a few more new things and some refinements on older models I am anxious to try.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Starvation must be a jinx...for both of us. About 3 years ago my wife and I were on our way back from a great walleye trip and the car started making ominous noises. I slowed down and tried to baby it home. Didn't work. The engine threw a rod through the block going up the hill between Heber and Jordanelle. Big towing bill. Even bigger bill to replace the engine.[/#0000ff]

[#502800]Yes, I was going to offer my corn services again at the DAV when I got back, if they wanted it ........ Then I lost my wheels so I didn't make it ..... I missed all the fun.[/#502800]

[#502800]Although a fuel pump is expensive, I'm glad mine was not a rod.[/#502800]
[#502800][/#502800]
[#502800]I somehow thought that the little perch would not chase some of my bigger trinkets, but I was wrong.[/#502800]
[#502800]With all the beads, colors and whirlys, one would think they would frighten the smaller fish .......Not![/#502800]

[cool][#0000ff]Last year I caught two 6" perch on the same 5" crankbait...at the same time. Deerickulous.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]And I have caught some of my nicest (over 20") walleyes on small jigs.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Knocks the heck out of that big bait big fish theory.[/#0000ff]
