Floridas Spiny Lobster Season Opens Aug. 6
#1
Information: The 2012 spiny lobster season opens Aug. 6 and remains open through March 31. A recreational saltwater license and a spiny lobster permit are required to harvest spiny lobster, unless you are on a charter boat or a dive boat that holds a charter fishing license with a spiny lobster stamp.

Spiny lobster must have a carapace of more than 3 inches to be harvested, and must be measured in the water. Possession and use of a measuring device is required at all times. Recreational trapping is prohibited and spiny lobster may not be harvested with any device that could puncture, penetrate or crust the shell of the lobster. The harvest or possession of any egg bearing lobster is prohibited.

Harvest is prohibited in Everglades National Park, Dry Tortugas National Park and no-take areas in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary.

The bag limit is 6 per person, per day statewide.
