I'm sorry this is so long but I have to tell it this way, so my apologies are up front. Moses and I started out on a grass point, flat throwing Spooks, Buzz baits, Wobble Heads and light T rigs. and got nothing. Jerry just loves grass fishing. Finally I switched to a small Chatter Bait and got a 3 lb. keeper and 3 or 4 smaller fish. We Finally went up river and started fishing a ledge with T rigs, C rigs and jigs. Moses caught two decent spots. So we now have three in the box, however two are small. Right? WRONG! Jerry then tells me he tossed the smallest Spot back in the river!? I asked Why? We can weigh spots!? Anyway he's going to catch a bigger one to make up for the mistake. Then about that time he does catch a good keeper fish. He is now redeemed! But then he looses a bigger fish that really could have helped us. at that time. He catches a couple more short fish all on the C rig. At that time, I couldn't buy a bite!? But we now have three in the box anyway. Moses reaches up to take his Costa Del Mar $160 sunglass off and they break in half!? After a lengthy, adjective laced tirade about that situation, we see the rain coming. We decide to run back down the river and hit another grass stretch. Jerry just loves grass fishing. The rain starts back up again and Jerry reaches over for his rain jacket, for about the 4th time. Just as he picks it up to put it on, his cell phone pops out and into the water! So now we have a completely worse situation! An absolute World Class disaster! Jerry without a cell phone! Jerry can't fish with out a phone in his hand. He has to stop and call at least 4 / 6 people when he's fishing. Well and least the phone was water proof if anyone ever finds it! I get another keeper on a spinner bait and we cull. We then moved out to a deeper hump and dredged it out with worms and jigs all for nothing. We now have about 2 hours left so we head back to another grass line. Moses just loves fishing grass! I grabbed up my spinner bait, put the trolling motor down and went to foaming the water. In a bit I caught a keeper and we culled again. Moses just loves fishing the grass. After putting on and pulling off my rain suit now for about the 9th time and listening to Moses tell me how much he loves the grass and complaining about the rain, his sun glasses and cell phone, I set the hook on a better fish. I said "net!" Moses is still talking the rain and grass, so I said again, louder "get the net"! Finally I yelled, "Jerry get the net!" In the drizzling rain Moses looks up and said, "I didn't know you had a fish on!" So we cull again. This is our best fish. So with about 45 minutes left I just kept on chunking that spinner bait and I think I caught two more that were no help. Did I tell you guys that Jerry just loves fishing the grass? All totaled, we caught about 18 fish I think. We had 11.81 for third place. But try as we could, we just couldn't catch up with Jmax and Snake man on the year end points standings. I have to say this was really a fun Tx. trail this season. I had a total blast! Thank you to everyone that participated. Moses is looking forward to next years grass crop!
