New Jersey DEP Needs Volunteers to Assist Invasive Species Survey
#1
The NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife is notifying subscribers to the NJ Freshwater Fishing E-mail List of the opportunity to assist anthropologists with the University of Maryland, who are working with colleagues from the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center and Maryland Sea Grant, on a study of invasive species by completing an online survey.

The study focus is whether baitworms, specifically bloodworms, and their packing materials create a pathway for the introduction of species not native to the mid-Atlantic region and potentially disruptive to local ecosystems and fishing. The anthropologists want to know what fishers, boaters, conservationists, and others know about and value when it comes to baitworms, fishing, invasive species and the environment.

Below is a link that will take you to the short online survey. It only requires about 15 minutes to complete. All responses are confidential and your participation is voluntary.

It would be most helpful if the survey is completed by October 5, 2012. The division appreciates your consideration of this request.
