Ice Fishing Tip #12

Don’t make your honey worry!!!

Take a cell phone with you on the ice, or at the very least let “some one” know where you are going and when you will be back. If you are late getting off the lake use a pay phone to let that “some one” know that you are ok.

A cell phone on the ice can be a lifesaver, and the life you save just might be your own.

This is especially important when the Ice conditions are becoming questionable.

[cool] “Don’t forget to wiggle your jig.” davetclown

As usual another good point and another reason for me not to drink. Been dry and on the wagon since 79 and not ready to even think of getting off of it! (honk, honk)

Texas gulf cost fisher.

Dave, This works well for the surf fisher if you substitute the sled with a wagon. If they have a big load of gear they might want to use wide tires to travel through the sand with ease.(honk, honk)

Texas gulf cost fisher.

Dave, with my F L 8, I can read through the ice just by pouring water on the ice and putting the transducer on it !!

Flagmanonice you are absolutly right I forgot to mention that in my tip. you need to put a little water in hole from your minnow for the transducer.

thanks Flagmanonice for catching that for me.

If any one notices any discrepencies in any of my post or any thing that I might have missed on please bring it to my attention, I will edit my post and credit the changes to whomever brings it to my attention.

It is my aim to make all my post printable for all our anglers.

http://myweb.ecomplanet.com/MESS6438/
Lookie See what the kids are up to.
Dave T. If you don't want it red than take it off and send it to me. I lost my red nose when a puppy desided it was lunch. (honk honk)

Texas gulf cost fisher.

<" }}^ >< Ice Fishing Tip #42a

Thanks ssor for posting this tip [Smile]

This works good for new and old fishing site's. A new friend found each time you make a trip to your favorite fishing hole just might give you that one little secret you needed to find and or land the trophy fish that has eluded you on your earlier outings. My motto on new tips or secrets is: It might sound dumb to me when i get it but I will try any thing once if it is legal. If it does not work, I learned some thing new that does not work. If it does work, I learned some thing new that I will use to improve my ability to do what I love to do, (let's all take the week end off and go fishing!!!!!!) Well it sounded like a good idea to me any way.

Texas gulf cost fisher.

Edited by Davetclown on 03/20/02 05:46 PM.

<" }}^ >< Ice Fishing Tip #45
Changing the line on your reel?

Credited to ssor

Changing the line on your spinning reel, doses not have to be a difficult task if you remember just a few things:
· Take all the old line off.
· Different pound test will have a major factor on the amount of footage that you can put on your reel. The heaver the test equals less footage you will be able to put on. (Lets be reasonable you don’t have to have two hundred yards of line when you are only fishing 20-feet down)
· Never fill the spool with line above one sixteenth below the rim of the spool
· Keeping light tension on your line as you are reeling it on will provide a uniform loading.
· Take the line straight of spool (don’t lay the spool on its side, this will only twist the line that will cause snarls in the near future). Let the kids help by putting a pencil through the center hole of the spool and have them hold on to the pencil. (Take caution to reel the line on slowly, there is no hurry, the young ones will love the opportunity to help, they are all loving and all trusting.)
· There is a table top straight line and a easy spool dispenser that is available to aid you in keeping your lines straight. The Bass Pro Shop has both.

http://myweb.ecomplanet.com/MESS6438/
Lookie See what the kids are up to.
Dave T. Clown
