Dang, just when we thought summer was over… well, you stillneed an AM windbreaker or sweatshirt, but only for about five minutes. Fall really is here and we look to be back tomore normal air temps this coming week. The good news… the fish don’t seem to mind.

We spent most of the week at either Gordo Point or Iman Bankwhere very nice loads of football yellowfin (some into the NFL 40 lb range),dorado, white-meat bonita and wahoo were boated daily. Yesterday we broke off a pig dorado after agood five minutes of being airborne (because we were rigged with ultralightfluoro for the shy tunnies) but landed another similar specimen perhaps in the40’s. Had a triple hook-up on wahoo anda few blind striking dorado on the troll home.

Early in the week the cows were still making cameos at bothInner and Outer Gordo Banks but as soon as the Western Outdoors Tuna Jackpot began and the banks became parkinglots for many gorgeous fishing machines, the fish dove and became VERYpicky. However, as I write the scalesjust closed and today’s 372 pounder took the top pot of almost $220K. Super-Cow indeed!

The Pacific is producing some Striped Marlin for thoseinclined to ride over (just say the word) and ocean conditions have been very cooperative. It seems that the fine overcast skies we’vebeen seeing this week not only warm up the air (and parked cars, homes,un-capped heads, etc.) but really keep the temperamental ocean flat… nothin’ butslow, spread-out rollers. NICE! Talk to you next week. –Capt. Tat
