Cabo San Lucas Fish Report and Baja Fishing
#1
Jc Sportfishing Weekly Fish Report.
As the Admiral Seas It
Fishing Report: 11/11/12 to 11/18/12
.

Jc Sportfishing Charters is a family owned and operated business and has been fishing in Cabo San Lucas for the past 18 years. Jerry, explains that his charter business is geared more for families and novice anglers, making sure everyone who charters a boat with him has a great time and lots of fun. We welcome families and groups. We want everyone who fishes with us to take all the sites in and have memorable experience. This is what is most important to us. We have and do a few tournaments each year and can accomodate fisherman who might be interested in tournament fishing. Lets get on with the report for this past week.
WATER: The water has been really nice as of latly. Really it hasn’t changed much over the last 2 weeks staying in the low 80,s in most areas locally.
WEATHER: Still the weather for this time of year is pretty warm and hasn’t changed much yet. In all my years of being here in Cabo by now should have changed for being a little cooler than it is. Over the last 2 or 3 nights I have felt it get a little cooler but not even sweater weather yet. I has been kinda overcast some days and almost reminds me of San Diego a bit. Overcast in the morning and then clearing up around 11 To 12 mid day.
BILLFISHING: The fishing really started off pretty bad the first part of the week. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday were really slow with the worst day being . We had to really work Wednesday just to catch a couple Dorado. Then on Thursday all hell broke loose again and fishing got good again. We started to catch Sailfish and Striped Marlin again. There was also a few big Blue Marlin caught with one weighing in at 529 and another tipping the scales at 356. Some of the larger sportfishing yachts had been up to Mag Bay and it was wide open for Marlin, Wahoo and Dorado. Lots of Mackerel up north and the bait seem to be moving our way according to some sportfishers up north. Some good reports of lots of action at the Finger Bank for Wahoo, Marlin, and Dorado. We do with all the bait fish moving our way that the Striped Marlin fishing will begin to improve.
BAIT: Bait is the standard 3.00 dollares a piece and there has been plenty around.
TUNA: Big Tuna being caught at Gordo Banks but you have to work for them. Drifting fish and chumming chunks of bait fish for maybe 1 bite. Some action right out in front of Grey Rock for smaller Tuna being caught on Sardines over the past 3 days.
DORADO: The fishing for Dorado really started off slow the first part of the week. Then by Thursday it went crazy again. From the Solmar all the way up to the Golden Gate it was wide open and we were catching fish on livebait, ballyhoo and lures. The Pangas were catching lots of Dorado later in the week on live bait and lures. The light house to Los Arcos and even up to Rancho Migrino was seeing good action on the Maui Maui. Even some smaller Dorado action right in front of Grey Rock.

INSHORE. The fishing inshore really has been some of the best we have almost ever seen when it comes to Dorado. The Marlin and Sailfish bite right offshore has made for a great week. Lots of the Pangas are getting in on the action and there catching Dorado, Tuna, Sailfish and Marlin not far offshore. Really all the Dorado you want from Grey Rock to Los Arcos. We have had some reports of smaller Roosterfish being caught inshore also.
WAHOO: The fishing for Wahoo has been pretty good lately. Quite a few Wahoo have been caught over the past few days. An abundance of them up and around Mag Bay.
BEWARE: Remember if your not renting charter boats from companies who have been established in Cabo for the past 20 years ( Jcsportfishing, Pisces Sportfishing, Minervas, Redrum, Picante Fleet) you might have problems. There are many sportfishing fleets on the internet who are really not established business, who are operating illegally. Lots of these outfits are renting you a boat they have never even looked at and don’t even know where you would board the boat, leaving you the task of trying to find the boat. They don’t even have an office you can go and confirm your charter boat. You do not want to spend a day walking around looking for the boat and where you board. If you wait till the day you are fishing and go to the dock where your boat is many times people will mislead you to another boat or dock trying to put you on a boat that was not meant for you. You need to have a person guide you to your boat, who is from a reputable charter company. This way there is no confusion or misleading. Lots of vendors renting boats in the hotels are not reputable and don’t care about your interest and care more about a commission . 75% of the Cabo Fishing websites on Google are not even in business anymore or might be just brokers who don’t have an office in Cabo. Some of the Google websites are misleading and not established .Please remember when renting Sport fishing boats in Cabo that you rent your boat from reputable and established business. Walk into a fishing fleet office and ask questions about what you are getting and what are the costs. You dont want to rent boats from vendors in the streets and you do not want to book through shady websites offering you the world. You need to go to the fishing fleet office, while in Cabo and book your boat. Check through travel forums about reputable fishing fleets to deal with. Look for testimonials about the fleet your booking your charter with. Ask about what will the boat be supplying? Will it include beverages or lunches? How much does it cost to fillet your catch? Check to see if charter boat is insured? Ask about getting your catch smoked? Check cost of fishing license. These are just a few things to consider when booking your charter boat. We will be talking more about this in next weeks fishing report. Until next time good fishing and we hope to see you in Cabo soon.
