#1
Florida Paddling Trails Association in partnership with the Manatee County Natural Resources Department announce the

Environmental Toolkit Training (ETT) Workshop
on Sunday, December 10, 2012 from 9 am to 1 pm
at Emerson Point Preserve

"Explore With a Purpose"
Help protect Florida's environment while exploring nature.

What is it?
Environmental Toolkit Training (ETT) is a course taught by theFlorida Paddling Trails Association to enable people who explore Florida to "recognize environmental problems (including plants & wildlife) - to solve the small problems and report the large ones". It consists of a four hour class workshop followed by a 1-2 hour fieldtrip (either a walk or paddle) to reinforce things learned in class.

Why should you take this training?
We all enjoy Florida's beautiful outdoors which is so enjoyable it keeps us coming back for more. When exploring the outdoors, we become part of the environment. We need to give back or "pay it forward" by helping to ensure this natural paradise is here for our children and future generations. This course provides some tools to help make this vision/dream happen.

What are the topics of the training?
During this training we will be discussing topics such as:
"¢ Knowledge of the Environment
"¢ How to Interact With Nature - interacting with nature in a way that minimizes our "footprint"
o Leave no trace
o Power of one person
o Be alert to accidental introductions
o Effect on wildlife and it's habitat
o Speaking up for nature
"¢ Gear Need to Monitor and Report Environmental Problems
"¢ Pro-Active Approach to Helping the Environment

What does it cost?
The cost is only $5/ person for a FPTA member or $25/ person for a non-member. The $25 includes a one year individual membership in the FPTA giving you full membership benefits (see our website at www.floridapaddlingtrails.com ). The training includes the following:
"¢ A laminated wildlife guide for Florida's plants and animals ($6 value).
"¢ A laminated "Who Do You Call List" for problems you might encounter ($5 value).
"¢ A page of references to find resources to answers to your questions. ($4 value).
"¢ A "Stewards of Florida's Paddling Trails" patch for your PFD ($3 value).
"¢ Learning ways to help protect our environment - both plants & wildlife (priceless).
