Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) creel census clerks report that due to the breezy weather conditions, fishing pressure dropped off from the previous week. They also reported that even though there was an abundance of threadfin shad throughout the lake, larger striped bass were not being caught.
Anglers fishing Hemenway Harbor were successful landing small stripers that ranged from 1 – 2 pounds. Threadfin shad and top-water lures were landing the fish.
Boaters fishing the Boulder Beach area reported good success for stripers that averaged two pounds. Anchovies were the bait of choice.
Shore anglers fishing in the vicinity of the Lake Mead Marina and the 33-Hole area continued to be successful landing striped bass that ranged from 1 ½ - 2 pounds. A few catfish that ranged from 1 ½ - 2 pounds were also taken in the area. The fish were taken with shad, anchovies and top-water lures. Anglers report the best time to be successful is still the early morning and evening hours.
