Clueless Girlfriend In Need lol

Ok, my boyfriend is a BIG fisher his favorite is Cat Fishing, he hasnt been able to go in so long butwe are finally taking leave and he goingt back to hs home town in Indiana and for Christmas I want to get him a new pole and stuff to go Catfishin with his best bud but I have NO IDEA where to start or what to look for. Can y'all maybe help a girl out?

I use a 7 foot medium action ugly stick with a nice reel and 17 to 20 lb line

Wow - those are some big poles! Almost like them Euro carp fishing rigs. Boilies and all.

I do mix it up and fish cats on my lighter rigs - but I feel more confident with a 7-8ft medium rod, a larger spool reel - usually a spinning reel. A lot of times when catting - I'm not doing lots of big casts, but sure is nice to have a quality drag when a big one takes a run!

I like reels that have a clicker. You can spin down the resistance, let 'em take it and run, and you've got a strike indicator without attaching bells.
