It's still not cold enough for any ice to stay but I havent given up hope, going from marina to canals looking for fish. Just using ice fishing rod jigging off of docks few perch and gills so far nothing impressive any ideas on where to go? Water is so shallow in St.Clair right now [:p]

you may want to try the launch right there off of the end of 59. "south ridge airport"

you can fish off the lake side as well, but that whole area is only 3 feet deep. the launch is the deapest part till you get several miles out in to the river bead.

also there is the bait shop on the north side of the marina, those canals are a little deaper and I know guys are fishing that, NO ICE..

good luck, be sure to let us know how you fair.

I managed to get out over the weekend...

we have anywhere from a crust over to 4 inches at best.

that said,

I ventured out on a few shallow lakes where if I went though I could stand up to keep my head out of water.

I did manage a few gills, and three pike, one 23 inch one on fryday 29 inch on sunday and one 38 inch that went 15 lbs for saturday.

michigan ice SE is thin at best

yep, we got our share of the tropical rain and heat wave. 2+ inches of rain in three days. 60degrees for a couple days in a row, with only 3-4 inches top in the best of places.

ice is thin at best, tho many of the lakes stayed crusted over, that gives hopes for good ice should we get a few nipply days of sub temps.

not a good idea to venture out any time soon as there is not any good ice making weather in the forcast for the next 7 days, We may have to look to our rivers for a little crome action to tide us over, that or take the dogs out and chase a few bunnies.

Amen, hoping to get out casting a little or jig for some perch and pike, I liked the post you made on giving fisherman a bad name I couldn't agree more, people only need one or two holes maybe three if u have spring rods. I always pop s separate hole to throw the small ones back in.

remember now there are special rules for targeting bass out of season. the 2014 fishing guideline booklet is out on the stands now.

you will find them where ever you find gills. hit the structures beds ect....
