Delaware to Hold Meeting on Demolition to Open Canoe/Kayak Launch
#1
SEAFORD - The DNREC Division of Fish and Wildlife will hold a public meeting from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 24 to receive public comments on a plan to demolish a structure on a new state property near Seaford to make way for a public canoe/kayak launch. The meeting will be held at the Woodland United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 5123 Woodland Church Road, Seaford.

The Division of Fish and Wildlife purchased the 0.5-acre property on Woodland Church Road in August, 2012. The property fronts the Nanticoke River at the Woodland Ferry, and includes a one-and-a-half story frame building in general disrepair that is proposed for demolition to allow for construction of the proposed public parking area and launch facility.

Public comments about the proposed demolition will be accepted at the meeting, and those who attend also will have the opportunity to ask questions about the project. Proposals for alternatives to demolition are welcomed and may be submitted at the meeting.

Written comments and proposals also may be submitted by Friday, Feb. 1 by mail to the Division of Fish and Wildlife, attention Rich Phifer, 89 Kings Highway, Dover, DE 19901, or by email to Rich Phifer at richard.phifer@state.de.us.
