Travis Crum, along with his brother, Tom, father, Bill andfriend, Glen, from Wisconsin came to fish Fort Lauderdale aboardthe Happy Day Today with the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea sportfishing. We had winds out of the east, southeast 7-15 mph, blue skies, 20% chance of rain, which is a given forecastfor South Florida every day.

On our way out, we stopped to purchase a dozen live GoggleEyes in the Fort Lauderdaleinlet from T &T Bait Boat. 1.8 milesfrom shore in 120 ft. of water and 15 minutes after leaving the dock, lineswere in the water at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale FL. Due to our extreme fast drop off, if youventure out another ¼ of a mile, it would put you in 550-600 ft. of water. To start off, we put two plainers down – onewith a double hook Mullet strip with a blue and pink sea witch in front and theother with a 3 ½ blue reflector drone spoon. As we trolled the reefs heading north off of Fort Lauderdale FL, we targeted some ofour 34 artificial wrecks that are located in Fort Lauderdale FL;we caught Kingfish and Bonitos along the way. From there we set up two kites on top of an artificial wreckthat sits in 280 ft. of water with two live Goggle eyes from each kite and onelive Goggle Eye at the bottom. Our firstfish was a Black Tip Shark on the right short kite - with dorsal out of thewater – as he frantically attacked the bait. Tom was our angler and brought the Shark to the boat – pictures weretaken and the Shark was released. Fromthere we went back to the same location, and set up once again. Another Shark appeared on the left long kite– Travis was the angler for this one – same scenario – pictures were taken andShark was released. Two other Sharkswere caught after this – one by Bill and the other by Glen. I went back to the artificial wreck and put alive Goggle Eye on the bottom. Tom wasthe angler and caught an Amberjack that fought all the way to the surface. I relocated to a different wreck that sits in340 ft. of water and Travis caught a 12 lb. Mahi Mahi.
