Thinking of Cutting Surf Rod --- TMA

Please Tell Me Anything about cutting a fishing rod.

I have an 11' graphite surf rod that I want to cut off about 6" from the butt end to have better control. Removing 6" would bring down the reel to where my arms are about level when the end is seated at my hip (power stance if you will).

Rather than just do it. Is there anything my forum Bros can tell/advise me? Not worried about warranty, I bought the rod on eBay.

It really depends. You would be best to remove the lower part of the stock first, if possible, then cut it down where you want it, then reattach the modified stock. Might be difficult with a cork stock or plastic. Trial and error.
