Ever had your thin line get caught in the side of the line roller,theres a small gap it can get caught in.
By adding a washer or spacer you can close the gap more so your line wont go in. (For spinning reels)
Happened to me once with this new reel so did a quick fix,done this before and know it won't happen again..,check it out!
