Nebraska High School Fishing Tournament July 27
#1
LINCOLN, Neb. - The Nebraska State High School Fishing Tournament will take place July 27 at Harlan County Reservoir near Alma.

This third annual event is open to students in grades 9-12 who are at least age 16 and have a valid Nebraska fishing permit.

Competition will be in teams, with each teaming having two anglers and a coach/boat operator. The event starts with a 6 a.m. rules meeting, followed by competition. The tournament ends at 1 p.m. and is followed by a weigh-in.

"Not only is fishing a fun hobby, but this is a great opportunity for high schoolers to be involved with a competitive sport beyond traditional athletics," said Larry Pape, who coordinates the event for the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. "Competitive fishing is growing in popularity in high schools and colleges around the nation. Participation in Nebraska has more than doubled in two years, and there is room for many more in this year's tournament."
