Wisconsin Wardens, DNR Crews Help Build Fish Crabs at Lake Emily
#1
Warden Kelly Crotty, DNR staffers and the public constructed 9 fish cribs for Lake Emily in Florence County.

Warden Kelly Crotty of Florence recently spent a morning with Department of Natural Resources Fisheries and Wildlife Management crews, Florence County Forestry staff and a member of the public to build nine fish cribs for Lake Emily in Florence County.

The hemlock used in the cribs was donated and was cut by G & G Lumber of Florence.

"Enough hemlock was donated to build a significant number of fish cribs next year as well," Warden Crotty said.

Cribs are used as spawning habitats for a variety of fish - mostly panfish. The cribs also support a variety of other aquatic organisms, and also provide escape areas for young fish of all species to survive.
