CLEAR CREEK STREAM FISHING 201 JUNE 2
#1
DENVER -- Intermediate anglers who want to improve their stream fishing technique are invited to register for a small fishing clinic to be held on Clear Creek in Jefferson County on Sunday June 2.

Participants will learn about stream ecology, how to read fish habitat in creeks and how to catch trout with spinning gear on small, cold waters.

"Small streams are challenging but they can be productive and a lot of fun even without a fly rod," said District Wildlife Manager Todd Schmidt. "I'd like to help a few anglers learn how to explore small creeks on their own and come away with some great fish and a lot of Smiles."

Because Clear Creek Canyon is steep and the creek channel is tightly constrained, the clinic is limited to 20 people. The canyon will confront anglers with difficult slopes, abundant rocks, and slippery, wet footing, so only healthy, active, sure-footed anglers over the age of 12 should apply.

WHAT: Clear Creek Stream Fishing 201

WHEN: Sunday, June 2, 8 to 11 a.m.

WHERE: Pull off on the South side of Highway 6 near mile marker 261.5, just west of Mayhem Gulch, Jefferson County

HOW: Interested anglers should R.S.V.P. to wildlife.neoutreach@state.co.us. This event is free: some equipment will be provided, however attendees can bring spinning rod and other personal equipment. Attendees should dress for changeable weather with rubber-bottomed shoes or hip waders. Only 20 slots available for this event, so register early!
