Trout Stocking Lake Mohave 11-29-03

NDOW is scheduled to stock Placer Cove, Willow Beach, Power Line Cove, and Cottonwood Cove on Saturday (11/29/03).

Looks like the strippers will come in big when they do. Wow two weeks in a row.

Here are directions to the locations.

NDOW Stocking locations at Lake Mohave

PLACER COVE – From Las Vegas/Henderson, drive south on U.S. 95 where it branches off from U.S. 93 just south Railroad Pass Casino near Boulder City. About 10 miles south of the turnoff, turn east on State Route 165 to Nelson. Continue driving through Nelson until Lake Mohave is reached. At the crest of the hill overlooking Lake Mohave, turn right and go down the hill to the wash. Cross the wash on the dirt road and follow it west until it turns up the hill and goes southward. The Placer Cove turnoff is just beyond the crest of the hill and goes east.

AZTEC WASH – From Las Vegas/Henderson, drive south on U.S. 95 where it branches off from U.S. 93 just south of Railroad Pass Casino near Boulder City. About 10miles south of the turnoff, turn east on State Route 165 to Nelson. At the end of town, the paved road turns sharply to the left where a dirt road branches off to the right. Take the dirt road and follow it for about 11 miles, where it reaches Aztec Wash. Please note that several turnoffs branch out from Aztec Wash Road. Caution must be taken to stay on the main road because the turnoffs lead to mines, dead-ends, or other places. The 11-mile dirt road can be vary hazardous because it is narrow and climbs and drops sharply in several locations. Additionally, very sharp curves pose hazards for drivers to use excessive speed on the road.

COTTONWOOD COVE – From Las Vegas/Henderson, drive south on U.S. 95 where it branches off from U.S. 93 just south of Railroad Pass Casino near Boulder City. Continue southward until reaching Searchlight then turn east (left) on State Route 164 and drive 14 miles to Cottonwood Cove. Trout are stocked in the harbor. Fishing is permitted just beyond the harbor area.

WILLOW BEACH, AZ – From Boulder City, drive south on U.S. 93 crossing Hoover Dam. Fourteen miles past Hoover Dam, take the turnoff to the west and follow it down hill for about four miles to the water’s edge. Trout are stocked in the lake at the base of the hill, which is also the area just below the gas dock at the marina.
