Lenny Giglio from Tempo Plastic along with Joe Montalbano,Michael and Mark Mencarelli all from Toronto, Ontario chartered the Happy Day Today along with theTopshotfishing team to do some deep sea sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale FL. We had south winds at 4 mph, seas running 2-3 ft.

After leaving the dock, we decided to do some Shark fishing, since there was no wind to fly the kite. Twenty minutes after leaving the dock, we were in 350 ft. of water eastof Fort Lauderdale, FL. We put out three Shark baits, one on the surface, one midrange and oneon the bottom. After 45 minutes offishing and no bites with very little current, I decided to do some trolling.

We put two plainers down, both with sea witches in front ofdouble hook Bonito strips, and for surface baits we went with four swimmingBallyhoos. As I crissed crossed trolling the reef catching Kingfish (between8-12 lbs.) and Bonitos (from 5-15 lbs.), a black shadow appeared on the rightshort rigger, as the bill belonging to a Sailfish was swatting away, trying toeat the swimming Ballyhoo. After 3attempts to eat the bait, he finally succeeded on the 4th try. Once hooked, peeling line off the reel, Joe,the angler settled into the fighting chair to do battle, and Dave, our mate, cleared the rest of the lines to avoid tangling. Twenty minutes later, Sailfish was to theside of the boat, pictures were taken and the 82” Atlantic Sailfish was releasedto do battle again.
