DC
#1
Today I decided to take a small trip to DC for some smallies and actually pull them out of there homes. This time was actually true. Last time when I went with my dad I caught only a few smallies on my fly rod but dang this time I slammed easily 20+ through the day. Most of them were caught on many types of crawdads and a few on homemade #12 leeches.

Looks like this shall be one tough winter at DC with how ugly the water level is always dropping when I'm up there. This might be the worst I've ever seen and remember in my life of fishing at that lake.

I wish that wave runners and boater had more respect for people fishing. You got the whole ******************** lake and I walked all this way to fish here back off. Make some noise where no one is fishing. As well for the Island OMG clean up all your mess. It's becoming to look like the Jordan river. Trash everywhere and many beer bottle.

Looks like someone is planning for a bonfire here.

Did you get a haircut?

As for the water level I have seen it get lower than that. One year while windsurfing DC it got low enough that some of the old foundations from the re-located homes started to show up opposite of the launch ramp at the island. There were flat spots showing up all over the place. DC does run flat eventually since it is a man made res.[shocked]

Ya I decided to cut it so I can find a better job because my hair was a little to crazy and long.

Well for me this is the lowest I've ever seen and gosh that got to been a sketch winter year when you were surfing around. [:|]

Nice work! what time of day did you go? I have never had success at any time other time than early morning.

Just remember that many (or most) of us have longer "evers" than yours! I spent more time in the Air Force than you've been alive - and that was less than a third of my life - so far.

Nonetheless, and kidding aside, that looks like it was a fun day. Hope you enjoyed some smallie tacos as much as the many smallie tugs.

I was catching them from 11am-6 pm [laugh]. With the crawdad I'm doing really small twiching strips.

Go to fish tech and buy there crawdad patters they work amazing for bass right now. 4/6 of the fish had a crawdad inside of them. Pretty soon if you got a float tube hit strawberry with sinking line, those crawdad, and it can be a blast slamming some cutties and bows.

Yes it was a pretty nice day for how mild the weather was but still a bass on a 6 wtf fly rod is still tons of fun [Smile].

Thanks for the tips. I have been itching to hit strawberry again this year, haven't been since ice off. When does the fly fishing pick up again?

It never died off at Strawberry. You just need different sink rate lines.
