The $5 Sucker
#1
Ice Fishing Tip #21

Ok you’ve had your fun for the day, you sat as long as you can in your shanty waitin for that 40 inch Thumb Biter (Pike) to come along so you can spear him.

Its time to go home and you have this $5 sucker still swimming well.

What do you do?

A) Cut the line and let the sucker go
B) Take the sucker home and fry him up for dinner
C) Take him off the hook and throw him out on the Ice.

Well it would be expensive to waist a good sucker so you don’t really want to do that.

You could take him home and cook him up. A $5 dollar sucker is certainly big enough for dinner for two.

Trying to replace a $5 sucker is not easy, very few bait shops will carry suckers that size, and if you want that 40+inch Thumb Biter you will want that sucker for tomorrow.

You know that if you leave the sucker in the lake a pike will surly eat it before you get back the next day. You can’t put it in a bucket cause he will die before morning.

So what do you do? As many Thumb Biter Fishermen know all you need do is pull up the sucker to just above the bottom of the ice leaving your sucker still hooked up. There he will be safe through out the night in addition the sucker swimming back and forth in your hole will aid in keeping the hole from freezing over.

[cool] “Don’t forget to wiggle your jig.” davetclown
