Quick Lake Powell Bullfrog report

I spent the week at Lake Powell... mostly as part of the Power Squadron but we did take early morning and late afternoon fishing trips.

The Stripers were boiling everywhere starting at about 8AM. We caught several dinkers that way but found better fish trolling deeper in the areas where boils were active.

The fishing was fast and we caught several stripers over 24".

I also caught a few smallies also on shad-imitating lures.

how were those larger stripers? are they razorbacks, or are they starting to fatten up at all?

The larger ones are starting to gain girth.

The rapidly rising lake has been great for the shad population, which in turn is feeding the stripers.
